With the Feed Efficiency module, you and the farmer can calculate the current feed efficiency and feed margin.
With the Feed Efficiency module, you and the farmer can calculate the current feed efficiency and feed margin. It allows you to easily compute key feed performance indicators in just a few steps. You can start with the ration from FeedExpert or enter your ration manually, combined with the latest delivered milk quantity. Simply confirm the data or make any necessary adjustments, and then save the updated feed efficiency.
Tracking Feed Efficiency By consistently saving these calculations, you gain insight into the trends of key performance indicators (KPIs). These KPIs are displayed graphically, making it easy to see if there’s improvement after adjustments in feeding management. Some of the calculated KPIs include: Feed margin Feed efficiency Dry matter intake Income Over Feed Costs (IOFC) Farmers can also manage their own KPIs, updating feed efficiency and tracking trends in milk production and feed costs.
A key feature of the Feed Efficiency module is the ability to link the mixing task with FeedExpert. The mixing task is always available via the online app, eliminating the hassle of lost or damaged instructions. For instance, how often does a farmer leave the mixing task on the kitchen table, only to realize it when standing by the feed mixer? Or resort to guessing because the mixing task got soaked in the rain and became unreadable? With Feedm, those issues are a thing of the past. If the farmer adjusts the loading list, they should also update it in Feedm. This ensures the advisor is notified of any changes. A modified feed ration may impact farm performance, allowing the advisor to collaborate with the farmer to optimize the ration as needed.
Adjusting the Mixing Task After consulting with the farmer, the feed advisor can place a new mixing task in Feedm. The farmer can view and modify the task using their personal account. Factors that may affect the mixing task and are adjustable by the farmer include: The number of animals for which the task is calculated The loading sequence The total amount of feed The quantity of each feed ingredient The number of feedings per day If the farmer changes the load weight for any feed ingredient, the mixing ratios may change. In this case, the advisor will receive a notification. However, if the mixing ratios remain the same, no notification is sent.
Ration Advice for the New Situation When the mixing task is adjusted, the feed advisor receives a notification in Feedm. The modified task can then be imported into FeedExpert. This has two advantages: the advisor is immediately aware of the changes, and they can quickly adjust the previous feed advice to match the new situation. This proactive approach helps the advisor stay ahead of changes on the farm. If needed, a new, customized feed ration can be created in consultation with the farmer. This makes it easier to implement the feed strategy you’ve jointly determined.
